Pantoprazole

Pantoprazole [CAS No: 102625-70-7] is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, peptic ulcers and conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) which helps to reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Pantoprazole selectively inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system of gastric parietal cells, which is last step in acid production, resulting in sustained acid suppression and promotes healing of acid- related damage in the gastrointestinal tract.

Pantoprazole is well-tolerated and widely used in both short term and long term therapy and also is available in delayed release and injectable forms.
